The Full Tilt Online Poker Series event 4 was a $200 buy in holdem pot limit tournament hosted by Gus Hansen. The guarantee from Full Tilt Poker was $100,000 but just like the first three this guarantee was not needed. 1,215 poker players entered the event making the prize pool $243,000 and paying out 135 positions, with the winner bringing home $53,460.
Again, there were many of the “red name†Full Tilt poker players entered in this event. Some included: Jon “PearlJammed†Turner, Huckleberry Seed, Aaron Bartley, JJ Liu, Karina Jett, Thomas Wahlroos, Gus Hansen and more. Scott Fishman was the closest of the notable names to finishing in the money going out 149th.
With the blinds at 10K/20K it was Old Latrobe 14 sending the tournament to the final table. FrankGrymes raised to 60,000 in the cutoff when it was folded to him and Old Latrobe 14 pushed his remaining 126,404 in the pot from the cut off. The blinds folded and FrankGrymes called showing Js 4s to Ah Kh for Old Latrobe 14 who looked to be in good shape. But its poker and a board of Td 4C Tc 2c 7s was all it took to send Old Latrobe 14 to the rail and bring on the final table.
That propelled FrankGrymes (833,259) to a 200,000 chip lead going into the final table. The other players that made up the table were: Skewp Troop (622,228), drlove527(514,901), 1Mastermind(350,341), petezky(323,009), carpman42(307,750), KSmith2K7(294,766), Prokurist(205,428) and pflippaD12(193,318).
When the table folding around, SkewpTroop raised to 70,000 first in and carpman42 re-raised to 217,000 an all-in from the small blind, the big blind, pflippaD12 called (and was all-in) and SkewpTroop called as well. SkewpTroop showed Ac Kc, carpman42 showed 9d 9c and pflippaD12 showed Ad Kh. The board brought the 9h and no further help giving carpman42 an early triple up and sending pflippaD12 to the rail first.
A few minutes later carpman42 was at it again putting drlove527 all-in with drlove527 showing Jd Qc to
carpman42’s Ac Js. Again the suspense was ended early as an ace came on the flop sending drlove527 home in 8th. Only a couple hands later SkewpTroop raised first in from the cut-off and FrankGrymes re-raised from the button. Both blind folded and SkewpTroop pushed all-in and FrankGrymes called. When the cards were shown, SkewpTrrops’s A s Q h was dominated by the Ad Kc of FrankGrymes. An ace came on the turn and no more as SkewpTroop was sent home in 7th.
The very next hand saw KSmith2k7, at his second FTOPS final table, push with poket 3’s from the small blind and was called by both Prokurist in the big blind with Ah Qc and carpman42 from the cutoff with pocket tens. Again a quick ace on the flop knocked out KSmith2K7 6th and tripled up Prokurist all the while crippling carpman42.
Play calmed down for a while as it seemed players were catching their breath but all the while carpman42 couldn’t catch a break and with the blinds 15K/30K and with only 58,000 left he pushed with Ac 2h and was called by 1Mastermind and FrankGrymes. As the other players checked down the board, 1Mastermind won with a pair of queens and carpman42 was done in 5th. Again there was a pause in the action until 1Mastermind raised under the gun and was re-raised by petezky from the big blind. Both players ending up with all their chips in the middle with 1Mastermind holding Kc Ks and petezky with Ac Ts. This time there was a little drama as an ace did flop but so did 3 spades. The turn and river were blanks though and 1Mastermind was sent to the rail in 4th.
FrankGrymes was next as he raised on the button with Ks Jh and was re-raised from the big blind by petezky with Kc Qc. FrankGrymes went all-in and was called pre-flop. The board came 7 high and with FrankGrymes gone in third it left petesky with 1,670,438 heads up with Prokurist with 1,874,562 in chips.
Heads up lasted about 15 minutes with the last hand seeing petesky all-in with pocket sevens and Prokurist calling with Ad Jd. A turned jack was all that was needed as Prokurist won the battle and is the FTOPS Event 4 pot limit holdem champion.
