Over the weekend, the World Series of Poker APAC $5,000 8 Game Mixed Event took place in Australia and several top pros were up for the challenge. In the end, it would be George Danzer of Germany who would earn the first place win, outlasting the field of competitors. After earning the gold bracelet, Danzer claimed his third WSOP bracelet of the year which is a great feat in the poker community.
Only five other players have managed to earn 3 World Series of Poker bracelets in a 12 month time frame and this includes Phil Ivey, Jeff Lisandro, Puggy Pearson, Phil Hellmuth and Ted Forrest, according to OnlinePoker.net. Danzer won the $10,000 Seven Card Razz and the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo event in this summer’s WSOP and now has the APAC event bracelet to add to his collection.
During the APAC event, 48 players competed, creating a prize pool worth just over $225,000. The final table would include only six players which included Sam Khouiss, Tino Lechich, Ismael Bojang, Jonathan Duhamel and Scott Clements, plus Danzer. After the final table narrowed down to the final two, Danzer would hold a 4 to 3 chip lead over Scott Clements. On the final hand, the round would be No Limit and would see both all-in preflop. Clements held Q-6 spades while Danzer held J-10 off suit. The board fell 10-3-2-K-2 and gave Danzer the pair plus the win.
Danzer was happy with the win and stated that he came to Australia to simply compete for Player of the Year points. He ended up winning the event and considers the bracelet win a bonus. He cannot seem to grasp the win as he was good with just busting, drinking his juice and going home with player of the year points.
