As everyone is leaving the season cocoons and embracing the light of 2022, poker players are getting ready to shuffle up and deal. With live poker tournaments scheduled to kick off before the month ends, poker enthusiasts are prepared to embark on playing.
However, poker tournament organizers seem to cross their fingers, hoping that nothing will change. Currently, the omicron variant of COVID-19 is causing many new cases, hospitalization, and even more deaths in the United States. The daily record of new cases was once nearly one million this week.
If the spread of the virus does not slow soon, playing live poker might remain a dream. However, we are still optimistic that nothing will stop poker games. The World Series of Poker Circuit began on January 5, 2022. The tourney will run through Tuesday, January 18.
It is a series of 13 ring events, senior and ladies events. The last match of the tourney will be at Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma.
Players will enter the event with $600 or less for all events. However, the entry to the Main Event is a little higher, $1700. The Main Event also has two starting flights and has $1,000,000 guaranteed prize money.
There are so many World Series of Poker Circuit stops this month. In fact, one is starting in Calgary at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino starting January 12. In the country, specifically in California, another stop at the Thunder Valley Casino Beginning January 13. A week later, the Circuit will land at Horseshoe Tunica in Mississippi.
The 2021-2022 World Series of Poker Circuit already began last year. It has completed three stops, including Hilton Aruba, The Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, and North Carolina at Harrah’s Cherokee.
World Poker Tour
The World Poker Tour (WPT) has been the latest poker hotspot in the country for the past few years. Its new season is about to start in the coming week.
On January 13, the first World Poker Tour event will happen at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood. The WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open will run through Wednesday, January 26.
The Main Event will go for $3,500 and occur between January 21 and 26. Top winners will get a share of the $2 million guaranteed prize pool.
The previous WPT tournament at the Seminole Hard Rock was a success.
For example, the Main Event on November 21 attracted 1,566 entries, which is a record for that tourney. It has a guaranteed prize pool of $2 million which increased to $5 million following the massive turn-up.
Another huge event is the $400 Deep Stack No-Limit Hold-em which attracted 6196 entries. With this entry, it became the most prominent live tourney in the poker industry in Florida.
Mid Stakes Poker Tour
Those who cannot go to Oklahoma can play the Mid States Poker Tour in San Diego. The tourney started yesterday, January 6, at the Sycuan Casino and will run through January 16.
Players will enter most events at a buy-in of $400 or less and have a chance to win ten trophies. However, the Main Event stands at $1,110 and has a $300,000 guaranteed prize.
It is scheduled for January 19-30. There is also another Mid States Poker Tour at Bally’s Black Hawk Casino in Colorado featuring similar details in San Diego.
