The Heartland Poker Tour Belterra No Limit Hold’em Main event concluded in Florence, Indiana this past Monday and it was Greg Raymer who earned the first place win. This may seem like regular news but with the win, Raymer was able to win a record setting four tournaments on the same tour in one year, which is quite an impressive feat!
Raymer was able to outlast the field of 283 players to win the HPT event and this was his fourth of 2012. After the win, Raymer stated he was ‘overwhelmed’. In 2012 alone, Raymer has earned just over $371,000 on the HPT 2012 tour. This means Raymer is now the all-time money leader of the HPT and he is the only player to have ever earned four titles on the tour.
The first tour win for Raymer took place on July 30th at the Route 66 Casino which is located in New Mexico. Raymer won just over $71,000 during this event and then moved on to compete in the HPT ST. Louis Main Event and won just over $121,000. In October, the 2004 WSOP Main Event winner won the HPT Prairie Meadows title to earn just over $72,000. With the recent win, Raymer sets the record for HPT wins and now brings his live tournament earning to over $7.3 million.
In the recent HPT win, Raymer held the shortest stack at the final table but was able to double up on the first hand of play. It would not be long before he took the chip lead and Raymer would never look back. the pro outlasted the final table pros and took down the first place win of $106,030 after defeating Jacob Bazeley in heads up play.
