The International Stadiums Poker Tour seems to have been doomed from the start. After the initial announcement of the new tour by Partouche Poker, the tournament was subject to ridicule after first denying the guaranteed $10 million prize pool and then changing the initial format from playing in Wembley Stadium to online. The tour is now facing issues with low player turnout and one online poker room had to cancel the first day of satellites after only two players registered.
The ISPT saw only two players register to play at Lock Poker, so the site decided to cancel Day 1a satellites. Poker770 and a similar issue and had to cancel two satellites for their Day 1a satellites. The two satellites did not meet the minimum number of entries to take place.
As of now, only thirteen places have been awarded to the ISPT event which will take place in London at the Wembley Stadium in June. The one satellite that did work was played at Partouche Poker. in the beginning, this tournament looked very promising and players were excited to try their hand at landing a seat in an event. However, it seemed at every turn, the tournament failed to live up to expectations.
The announcement of the new tour showed a new kind of tournament format which promised new and exciting options for poker players. Thousands of players were expected to be able to play online in the stands at Wembley Stadium and then by Day 3, the remaining players would move on to live game play.
The format was soon abandoned and online play inside the stadium was cancelled. This format was changed to satellites and the final chip count would move on to live play. Lock Poker and Poker770 have promoted the event but both have lacked to see the player numbers to turn the ISPT into a major yearly event.
