The third and final day Event #39 of the 2012 World Series of Poker concluded this past Saturday and it was Germany’s Jan-Peter Jachtmann who earned the first place win. The tournament had a buy-in of $10,000 and was a Pot-Limit Omaha event. The tournament began with 293 players competing and by the final day, only thirteen remained, vying for the top prize.
When the day began, Andrew Brown held the chip lead and he would take out Adam Kornuth after John Kabbaj went out in thirteenth place. Next to leave would be Sammy Farha and Ville Wahlbeck in 11th and 10th place. Joe Kusher would go out in ninth place and then next to go would be Jason Mercier.
Mericer would go all in preflop and Micah Smith would call. Smith’s king and 9s would win the pot and send Mericer home. The tournament would continue on and it would not be long until Nikolai Yakovenko, Benjamin Sage, Andy Seth and Micah Smith would go out, in that order.
This would leave Jachtmann, Brown and Steven Silverman in three handed play. Silverman would be the first to go at the hands of Brown. Silverman would go all in and Brown would call and with a pair of queens, Brown would win the hand and Silverman would be out in third place.
When heads up play began, Jachtmann held a little over one million more chips than Brown. It would not be long before Jachtmann would claim the victory. In the final hand, both were all in and Brown held Q-Q-J-7 while Jachtmann held A-4-5-2. The board would fall 2-3-Q-9-A which would give Jachtmann the straight and the win.
