Event #46 of the WSOP, was a $2,500 No Limit Hold’em tournament and 1,607 registered to compete. The event took three days to complete and in the end, Joey Weissman would earn his first WSOP bracelet after defeating Jeremy Quehen in heads up play.
When the third day of play began, Weissman was the chip leader and he would then begin to work his way to his first WSOP bracelet. Twenty six players would return on day 3 and after a few hours, only Weismann and Quehen remained.
Heads up play would begin after six hours of game play and the two players would go back and forth for three hours before Weissman would take the first place win. When heads up play began, Weissman looked great, and it seemed as though he would defeat Quehen rather quickly but that was not the case.
Quehen would soon double up and would be in better position and would soon take the lead. However, Weissman would soon double up and the two would be about even. Weissman would eventually overtake Quehen just enough to take down the final hand.
On the final hand, Weissman raised 240,000 and Quehen called. The flop fell Q-5-3 and Quehen bet 350,000. Weissman was surprised but made the call. The turn of a 7 saw Quehen bet 800,000 and Weissman made the call. A J on the river saw Quehen push 2 million in and Weissman then decided to go all in. Quehen called and Weissman showed A-Q of hearts which gave him a flush and he had earned his first WSOP bracelet of his career!
