Every now and then, we devote a news piece to the ladies in poker, as it is a game that is played predominantly by the male population, and there are a couple of organizations that want to include more women in this game.

When you look at it, poker is a perfect game for both men and women as it requires skills that we all possess. In football, for example, it is very difficult to let men and women play at the same time, simply because men are overall physically stronger than women. It wouldn’t be fair, and that is the case with many other sports. However, poker presents no such obstacles, and everyone should be included in the game, men and women alike.

Therefore, let’s take a look at the Ladies Player of the Year race at this moment and see what’s happening. There are some legendary poker players, but some new faces as well.

The New Faces

Although we are only three months in the 2019 and there is still a lot of time for things to happen, the race is getting more intense and interesting as the women in poker battle for the best tournament player of the year.

One of the players that really caught the attention of the poker community is Natalie Teh, a poker pro from Malaysia. She has been a regular at some of the biggest poker tournaments in the world, with the best score of $57,010, which she earned by begin 120th in WSOP Main Even in 2018.

Another player we should pay attention to is Sasha Liu, as she has been doing pretty well in PLO cash games. Sasha lives in Las Vegas where she is pretty regular when it comes to playing poker in casinos. However, she has decided to focus on tournaments, playing both PLO and no-limit hold’em and becoming very successful at it. 2019 has been pretty good for Liu so far as he managed to cash out two events in Venetian DeepStack and claimed four cash prizes at The Wynn.

Sherry Hammers is also a name that you can hear a lot lately if you are into poker. She has made some success lately, with the biggest one being in the WSOP Circuit Rio Main Event where she ended up on the 15th place out of 952 entries. Her best live cash ever is $45,918 which she won when she managed to end up on the third place in the $1,100 MSPT Minnesota Main Event that took place in February 2018.

At the moment, the leader of the 2019 Ladies GPI Player of the Year is Kristen Bicknell with a GPI POY Score of 1,222.77. She is really doing a great job as the next one in line is Sosia Jiang with 786.36. The third place is currently occupied by Lauren Roberts with 740.11.
