Pending approval from Pennsylvania’s gaming regulator, Live! Casino has announced its interest to bring a new poker room in the state. The company will launch poker games in Western Pennsylvania, Greensburg.
The casino’s general manager Seam Sullivan said that launching a new poker room would give its clients reasons to spend time in the property. The new poker room will carry seven tables. It will cover 1,400 square foot flour sitting next to the Sports & Social Steel City, a sports-themed dining area.
Free Training for Poker Dealers
During the announcement, Sullivan also said that the company had launched a free Poker Dealer School. This school will help those who want to venture into the gaming industry.
Moreover, those trained in the school will have a chance at working at Live! Casino that will open in Greensburg. If the class is filled up, those registered might have to wait until the following free training classes.
Classes started on Monday, November 8. Registered members can attend sessions between 10 am and 2 pm or 6 pm and 10 pm at Live! Dealer School is located at the Westmoreland Mall. The general manager said the training would continue in Westmoreland County and provide many other opportunities that will help the community.
Boosting the Poker Industry Market in Pennsylvania
There are two land-based poker rooms in Western Pennsylvania, including Hollywood Casino in Meadows Racetracks and Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh. Hollywood Park is a smaller poker room with 14 tables, while Rivers has over 30 tables, both offering live games throughout the week.
While the two used to offer daily poker tournaments, they stopped following the effects of the Coronavirus. Even with most gaming property returning to normalcy, Hollywood Park and Rivers are yet to return tournament games in the area.
Unfortunately, none of the two rooms are planning to return to daily tournaments soon. Thus, players have to travel elsewhere to game tournament offerings. An employee at Rivers disclosed that the casino was planning to offer monthly poker events from December while Hollywood Park will offer Sit & Go matches.
While the neighboring regions have several live poker offerings, there is none in Pittsburgh. This is unfortunate, considering adjacent markets like Florida and Philadelphia are bustling with poker events.
For example, poker players in Philadelphia are getting unlimited action with daily tournaments. But, this could be because several poker pros such as Dewey Tomko and Matt Berkey come from the region. In Pennsylvania, there are only ten operating poker rooms, including one by Live! Casino in Philadelphia.
