Lock Poker and related sites went offline on April 17. There was some speculation among players that the situation may be temporary. It seems apparent that the sites related to Lock Poker are down for the count.
Lock Poker did not distribute a press release that pertained to the situation. Players were left to wonder why the company’s servers were not operational. There is now ample proof that Lock Poker and its related sites are permanently dead.
Lock Poker was licensed in Curacao. Its license number was 1668/JAZ. Lock Poker’s sister sites Superwins and Lock Casino operated under the same license. While unrelated, Curacao also regulates Carbon Poker and numerous other generic sites under the same license.
A search of interactive gaming records in Curacao shows that the license pertaining to Lock Poker and Superwins is now invalid. The license covering Lock Casino is also invalid. This action does not include unrelated sites that operate under the same license number.
Lock Poker was a scam site that launched in 2009. It originally operated on the Cake Poker Network. It moved to Merge Gaming in 2010 after a falling out with Cake Poker. It returned to the Cake Poker Network in 2012, which was rebranded as Revolution Gaming. It was thought at the time that Lock Poker acquired the network. Those reports turned out to be inaccurate.
Players started complaining about slow payments at Lock Poker in 2012. A vast majority of players that requested a withdrawal after November 2012 never got paid.
Lock Poker became an independent site in 2013. The troubled online poker room managed to stay in business until April 17, 2015, even though it stopped honoring payouts long before then.
Lock Poker’s license was still valid as of April 21, even though none of the company’s sites had operated in the previous four days. Curacao eGaming pulled its interactive license at some point after that date. That should dispel any speculation that the sites under the company’s umbrella will ever relaunch.
The websites of Lock Poker and its sister site Superwins are still live. Lock Casino’s website is also operational, even though the platforms are not operational.
The poker and casino software may be downloaded. It cannot connect to the poker server. Support for both sites does not respond to email inquiries. Live help is also offline. The email listed for player complaints bounces. It appears that Lock Poker and related sites are shuttered permanently.
Lock Poker stiffed players for an estimated $15 million. There does not appear to be any recourse for those that have funds stuck on the defunct sites related to the company.
