Matt Matros Earns Third WSOP Bracelet with Event #16 Win

Event #16 of the 2012 World Series of Poker has wrapped up and Matt Matros was able to earn his third WSOP bracelet with the win. 1,603 players registered for the $1,500 Six Handed No Limit Hold’em event and in the end Matros was able to defeat Mark Radoja in heads up play to claim the win.

Matros earned his first WSOP bracelet in 2010 after winning the $1,500 Limit Hold’em event and then his second bracelet came in 2011 when he won the $2,500 Mixed Hold’em Limit/No Limit event. So the poker pro has now won one bracelet each year for the last three years.

Day 3 of the tournament started out with nine players and it would not be long before final table play would begin.  The first hand of final table play would see Matt Glantz departing the competition in seventh place. Glantz was all in with A-K and would go up against Ramey Shaio’s pocket queens. A queen on the flop would give Shaio the hand and Glantz would be done for the day.

Six handed play would last around two hours before the next player would go out. Three players would go down rather quickly, leaving just three players left in the competition. First to go would be Mark Darner, then Robert Muzzatti followed closely by Gordon Vayo.

It would be another hour before Ramey Shaio would be eliminated in third place. Shaio went all in with pocket threes and would be called by Radoja who held A-10. Radoja earned a 10 on the flop and Shaio never earned another three and was out in third place.

This left Matt Matros and Mark Radoja left in heads up play. Both players had earned a WSOP bracelet and both wanted another one. The two would be even as heads up play began and Radoja would be the one to earn a lead early on. It would take another hour for Matros to earn the chips back and he would eventually earn the lead with two pair.

The final hand would see Matros go all in on the turn with 10-9-2-8 on the board and Radoja would call with a straight. Matros held 6-5 hearts suited and with a 10 of hearts on the river, he would earn a flush and his third WSOP bracelet!
