The Mohegan Sun has partnered with Bally Technologies, a global gambling company, to create an interactive online poker website for online gamblers. Two sites will be launched, one at the Connecticut casino and one at the Pennsylvania Mohegan casino for free play at first, until real money gambling is available.
Officials have stated that the iGaming platform, created by Bally, is currently being installed. Both states have yet to offer online wagering so players will have to wait awhile to be able to play online poker for real money via the new websites.
The Mohegan Sun stated that they took six months to review and determine that Bally is the perfect fit for their online poker sites. The financial aspects of the agreement have not been disclosed. Mitchell Etess, the Chief Executive Officer of the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, commented:
“We’re thrilled to continue our successful partnership with Bally Technologies. Our goal is always to provide our guests with the best gaming and entertainment offerings and we believe iGaming is the next step in fulfilling the demand for regulated online poker when customers aren’t able to be on (the) property.”
The new free play model will launch in early 2013 and will be available at www.mohegansun.com and www.poconodowns.com. Players will be able to log on to the sites at the casinos and then enjoy the online poker games. This seems to be just the beginning for the partnership between the Mohegan Sun and Bally and it will be interesting to see how well the online poker option fares at the casinos. If online poker is legalized in the US, or in the individual states, the Mohegan Sun will already have a leg up in two states.
