Starting this week, the Nevada Gaming Control Board will be reviewing applications that have been turned in by top gaming companies. Twenty five companies have filled out applications for an online poker license in the state of Nevada and the front runners to earn a license in the state are Bally Technologies and International Game Technology
Both Bally and IGT were among the first companies to fill out an application for an online poker license in the state of Nevada. The two companies got their application in to the Nevada Gaming Control Board before October 2011. IGT and Bally has applied to be able to manufacture and run online poker operator systems. Both are also planning on partnering with top land operators in Nevada to offer their online poker services.
Mark Lipparelli is the chairman of the control board in the state of Nevada and he stated back in May that online poker should be available in the state of Nevada in seven to ten months. Players in the state may be able to enjoy online poker options as soon as December of this year, if all goes well.
Both Bally Technologies and IGT are strong companies in the poker industry. Bally has been working in the gaming industry for decades and IGT has established themselves as a strong company in the poker industry. IGT recently purchased the Entraction poker network and has spent hundreds of millions to continue to expand their company.
Both companies must now wait and see what happens with the Gaming Control Board. Their applications must be approved by officials and then they must be reviewed by the Nevada Gaming Commission. Once the process is complete, IGT and Bally Technologies may find themselves as one of the first online poker license holders in the United States.
