When one thinks of Nevada, Las Vegas instantly comes to mind with bright shining lights and plenty of gambling activity. From the casino games to poker tables, Las Vegas is a gamblers dream. So it was no surprise that the state in which Sin City calls home was one of the first to offer online poker gaming in the United States. Nevada offers online poker gaming only and began their foray into iGaming with a bang only to see the revenues become stagnant over the past few months.
Taking a look at the fall figures released by the gaming regulators of Nevada, the online poker sites of the state have only been able to bring in around $650,000 on average each month since September. In the early months of 2014, the sites earned as much as $926,000 before June when the World Series of poker came to town and everyone was giving online poker gaming a go. For that month, the state was able to push past the $1 million mark to $1,037,000 in revenues.
After June, the earnings began to decrease somewhat with $985,000 in July and $742,000 earned in August. It was by September that the earnings hit under $700,000 and for November, the state was only able to earn $641,000 in online poker revenues. The industry has somewhat stalled in Nevada and has seen similar revenues over the past few months with December totals to be released over the next few weeks.
In overall gaming numbers, the state was able to earn $876.3 million, with online poker marking only a small fraction of the revenues earned. According to CardPlayer, the amount earned in November overall was only a .4% increase from November of last year. The online poker earnings were quite low and it will be interesting to see once the December totals are released, if the state has seen any change in the seemingly stagnant trend taking place over the past few months.
