After conducting a soft launch last week, starting on the 16th of March, PokerStars can now say they are fully operational in the state of New Jersey. The parent company of the top online poker brand, Amaya Gaming, announced today that the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has given the company technical approval to go ahead and launch PokerStars NJ fully. Amaya has been waiting to offer PokerStars gaming to NJ residents since last fall when PokerStars received a gaming license.
CEO and Chairman of Amaya, David Baazov, stated: “We could not be more proud to bring PokerStars to New Jersey. Working with our partner, Resorts Casino Hotel, we look forward to providing the most exciting, innovative and secure gaming experience to New Jersey.”
On top of the online poker gaming provided by PokerStars, the brand will also offer casino games including slots, roulette, baccarat and blackjack. Casino and poker games will only be available to those who are located within the state of New Jersey physically and players who are at 21 years of age or older.
To be able to provide online poker gaming, PokerStars had to have a land-based casino partner. The brand choose Resorts Casino Hotel, who are happy to be working with the poker brand. Morris Bailey is the owner of the casino who stated that today is a great day for online gaming as well as the players and residents of the state, and of course, Atlantic City.
As of writing, PokerStars NJ sits in the 43rd spot in traffic at PokerScout with 52 cash game players, 24 hour peak traffic at 304 and a seven day average at 110. This of course is only from a few hours of game play so it will definitely be interesting to see these numbers at the end of the week and in the coming months as the site begins to see new signups and more players taking part in online poker gaming.
