Poker players have much to look forward to in 2018, with new tournaments to enter, promotions to take advantage of and more. With the New Year comes the start of many new options for poker players, including the WSOP.com Player of the Year race. The 2017 race has come to an end and now the WSOP is ready to name a new player of the year, this time for 2018. The big winner is set to receive $10,000 in cash plus an exclusive WSOP.com Player of the Year ring and VIP seating during the 2019 World Series of Poker Main Event Final Table.
To qualify for the Player of the Year contest, players will need to earn points by participating in scheduled Multi-Table tournaments that offer cash prizes from now until December 31st, 2018. Some tournaments at the WSOP site may offer multipliers for points awarded.
There are tournaments that do not count towards the Player of the Year points. These tournaments include single-table, heads up, multi-table and Sit & Go tournaments. Ladies Only plus invitational events are also excluded from the competition.
The 2017 WSOP.com Player of the Year was smaulerg, a player who earned 6901.81 points for the year. Smaulerg finished his online gaming point earnings a good 500+ points over the second-place finisher JingboSlice.
The Player of the Year contest is only on offer in New Jersey. Players who are located in the state can try their hand at earning points while competing in multi-table tournament action. The year has just begun so there is plenty of time to log online and take part, hopefully earning enough points to finish at the top of the leaderboard.
If you are just visiting New Jersey and want to take part in a short-term contest, why not try the APP Leaderboards? Offering $2,500 in prize money each week, players simply need to take part in cash games and earn Action Player Points. The top 30 players each week will earn a cash prize.
