The Big One for One Drop poker tournament is a special event that will take place as part of the 2012 World Series of Poker. The event is set to take place on July 1st and will be a three day event. This event will be in No Limit Hold’em format and will have a buy-in of $1,000,000. A portion of the buy-in will go toward the One Drop foundation which promotes clean drinking water all over the globe.
With such a large buy-in, the field will be made up of the best poker players in the world. Poker fans have been wondering which pros will compete in the event, especially Phil Hellmuth. Hellmuth recently spoke with poker news site Card Player, and it looks as though he will be competing in the event.
The special event is #55 on the schedule and will be a bracelet event. If Hellmuth were to participate and win, it would be his 12th WSOP bracelet of his career. Hellmuth told Card Player: “I guess I’m lucky. People have been texting me saying they want pieces. Two people have texted me saying that they would put up $250,000 for me to play—two very legitimate people. David Chesnoff, the world’s best trial attorney, said he would put up $50,000. So, it’s like $550,000 without even trying. There’s a good chance I play now, like an 80 or 90 percent chance.”
Hellmuth went on to say that he has been working hard on his No Limit Hold’em game, which is the format of the tournament. Hellmuth has apparently picked up a few tricks in his practice of the game and he plans on using them in the tournament if he participates. The tricks will definitely come in handy as the best of the best will be participating in the event!
