The testing phase begins today in the state of Delaware for online gambling options and players have been waiting for weeks for the day to finally arrive. The Delaware Lottery stated that a soft launch will begin today for a select few and then live gaming for everyone will begin online on November 8th.
According to a recent report by the Associated Press, Vernon Kirk, the Director of the state lottery, announced that a ‘very soft launch’ will begin today. This launch will give the staff of the lottery as well as the casino employees a time frame to begin learning how to monitor both transactions and money.
Players have been selected to participate in the soft launch from a play money game opportunity which took place back in August. These players will be given a chance to take part in the test launch. Every state in the US is watching to see how well Delaware pulls off online gambling and the state wants to be sure to go through the process without any negative incidents.
Kirk hinted around that the problems with the new health care site of the federal government have had issues and the state does not want this to happen as well. The state would like to see transfers run smoothly from casino to player and vice versa before they are ready to go fully like. If the test run goes smoothly, the state will go live for everyone on the 8th of next month.
So now, we wait. The coming days will see how well the state runs their online gambling program and after the 8th, everyone should be able to participate if located physically in the state. Delaware will be followed shortly by New Jersey who is expected to launch toward the end of November. These states along with Nevada are being watched closely by the rest of the United States and if successful, we could see many more states offer the same gaming options in 2014.
