The state of California has been on the radar of online poker for some time now, with officials and tribes trying to figure out what they want to do with the gaming option. Apparently, one Indian tribe has taken matters into their own hands and launched a new poker site, that will supposedly offer real money in the near future in the state of California.
According to a report by Marco Valerio, the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel have launched PrivateTable.com and will be offering real money gaming to anyone located in the state of California. The @Agent Marco blog reported the launch and released information based on a press release he was given by Martin Owens a lawyer in Sacramento.
According to the press release, the tribe is relying on their sovereignty and regulatory commission to be able to provide Californians online poker in the state. The tribe’s gaming commission has a strict regulatory structure that they consider ‘more stringent’ than the structure of the proposed poker bills for the state. The tribe also stated that the PrivateTable site is an alternative that is a legal option as compared to unregulated offshore sites that players from California already visit.
The new online poker site is reportedly ready for real money gaming but there is no option for players to be able to deposit funds online. Players can register at the site and compete in play money gaming until financial options are made available. The website for PrivateTable states that players can deposit and withdraw funds at the Smoke Shop which is located on the tribal lands of the Santa Ysabel. The site also states that online poker transactions would be supported by Finpay, which is a eWallet financial method.
The PrivateTable.com site appears to be well-planned and offers the standard selection of poker gaming including Texas Hold’em, Omaha and Stud Poker. Players who take part in real money gaming, once available, will need to be located physically in the state as well as be 18 years of age or older to take part. The site will use geolocation technology to assist with player location.
