Blood may be thicker than water but it seems not poker chips. Peter Gould won the NPL U.K. Open Championship this week and not even his son could stop him.
Peter came to the final table with the chip lead of about 7,000 chips over his son Josh. The final table was full of action and the chip lead changed hands a few times until Peter took out Darren Woods, Jeff Buffenbarger and yes, even his son Josh.
After that, Peter was heads up and made quick work of Patrik Selin with two huge hands played that went Peter’s way as well as the title.
The NPL was a two day poker event with plenty of big name players to go around. Mel Judah, Dave Colclough, Tony G, Rolande De Wolf and with a movie shoot in London, Jennifer Tilly even played at the Loose Cannon Club.
Of all those big names Tong G got the closest to the final table but all fell short of that prize. The final table consisted of Josh Gould, Peter Gould, Dieter Dijkstra, Lee Watts, Darren Woods, James Hart, Dan Carter, Patrik Selin, Jeff Buffenbarger and Jason Ho.
With the win Peter Gould took home £34,000, it is the biggest win of his career but not the only win. He cashed in the 2007 WSOP Main Event for $25,101 and also has won two Five Diamond Classic tournaments.
