The 2012 World Series of Poker is in high gear and many events have already concluded. Top poker pros have competed in the events and already, twenty three events have finished up, with twenty three players earning gold bracelets. Phil Hellmuth has won his 12th bracelet and Phil Ivey has made his return after taking last year off. However, Ivey has not been able to take down a WSOP win and add another bracelet to his collection.
So far, Ivey has made three final tables but has yet to claim a victory. Just last week, Ivey finished in second place and seventh place in WSOP events and just this week, Ivey competed in Event #24 which was a $5,000 Omaha-8 event and managed a third place finish.
This event is still taking place and Ivey was surely disappointed as he missed out on the gold bracelet. Going out in third was also a disappointment because Ivey had been the front runner of the event especially from Day 2 play. By Day 3, Ivey held a nice chip lead and would outlast the majority of the 26 players returning to the tables.
Ivey continue to hold a good chip stack when final table play began but slowly, Ivey would lose his stack. By the time three handed play began, Ivey would be left at the table with Scotty Nguyen and Joe Cassidy. Ivey would eventually lose his entire stack and be knocked out of the competition.
Despite losing out on his third possible gold bracelet, Ivey has done well with cashing out. So far, Ivey has earned over $420,000 and he still has time to earn a gold bracelet. It will be interesting to see if Ivey will be able to earn at least one gold bracelet before the WSOP is over.
