Having only launched a little less than one month ago, online poker in the state of New Jersey has continued to grow at a steady pace. Both PartyPoker and AAPN have seen a significant growth in player numbers as well as the WSOP.com website. Players continue to log on and create new accounts, with player numbers during peak times growing at a nice rate.
PartyPoker is the top choice for poker players in the state of New Jersey, with the network hosting fifty percent of the market in cash game traffic. This is according to the recent numbers at PokerScout.
PartyPoker has an online poker room in NJ under their brand as well as the BorgataPoker.com site. Between these two sites, the network has around 240 players when compared to the 7-day moving average. Bwin.Party is the PartyPoker parent company, and recently commented on their position in New Jersey by stating: “In poker, revenues have grown since the introduction of our new poker client that is now available to approximately 65% of our customers, as well as from the launch into New Jersey where our network is the market leader.”
The PartyPoker numbers are at almost 100 more players than WSOP.com which is in operation by itself on the 888 platform. WSOP.com has around 150 players on average and creates around 30% of the online poker industry in NJ. AAPN is the poker network of the 888 brand and operates poker on 888poker NJ. This network takes up 15% of the market. All three networks hold the top spots over other networks such as Ongame and have seen significant growth over a two week time frame. PartyPoker is up 8% while AAPN has seen 15% in growth. WSOP takes the top spot with an 18% growth.
The online poker industry has done quite well in the state of New Jersey as compared to the state of Nevada. With almost 500 players competing at once, NJ has just over two times as many players in the regulated market as Nevada. It will be interesting to see how the market progresses in 2014. Will New Jersey continue to dominate the online poker industry in the United States or will another state enter the market and give the state a little competition?
