According to Jefferson County Sheriff’s reports, Mathew Sowash, who owns the Amateur Poker Tour owed the men 60 thousand dollars, Sowash’s poker company holds bar league poker games in the Denver area.
The alleged conspiracy was to put together a box, made of wood, that would hold the rattle snakes, the boxes lid was planned to allow Sowash’s legs inside, but not allow him to pull them back out again.
After receiving threatening emails, Sowash called the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Subsequently, 34 year old Lee Steelman was arrested on Wednesday. Herbert Paul Beck, age 56 was arrested Thursday. Both were charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
Another and more disturbing plan to persuade Sowash to pay his alleged debt according to affidavits was to “kidnap Sowash’s children and use them as leverage to get the money from Sowash.”
