With several threats to the online poker industry in the United States, several groups are coming forward to stand in favor of the option, including the Poker Players Alliance. The PPA has long been a proponent of poker gaming period and have now released a new video update which focuses on what efforts are being made to stop new proposals that would see online gaming banned in the US.
John Pappas, the Executive Director of the PPA, is featured in the video and speaks about how proponents of iGaming can help to oppose the anti-online gaming measures. The video explains that there are now two bills in play, one in the senate and one in the house. S. 2159 and H.R. 4301 will seek to ban online gaming nationwide.
Pappas explains that the PPA is working with both Democrats and Republicans to explain why the legislation is not a good idea for the US. The group is meeting with both supporters of online poker as well as supporters of the new bills. The PPA is trying to show that regulation needs to take place instead of prohibition.
The PPA is also strongly focusing on the House and SEntate Judicicary committees as this is where the bills have been deferred. A vote may eventually take place to move the bills forward so the PPA wants to try and keep this vote from happening and stopping the legislation from progressing.
As for poker players, the PPA suggests that beginning today, one should meet with local legislators. As of today, there is a two week recess taking place in Congress. This makes right now the perfect time to contact state legislators with your opinions on the legislation. The PPA also would like to have more followers on social media to be able to contact legislators in this manner.
