Early yesterday, several poker players tweeted about the passing of fellow poker player Ryan Young. A variety of sources have sited that Young passed away as a result of a car accident. The full details of the crash have yet to be reported but many poker pros are now mourning Young’s passing.
The news was first broke by poker pro Daniel Negreanu. Negreanu took to his Twitter account and reported the sad news. Several other poker pros confirmed Negreanu report and stated their sadness as well about the unfortunate events.
Young was from the state of California and was known by fellow poker players be being friendly and talkative at the poker tables. Young was very young and had already amassed over $1.6 million in earnings from poker play. The pro even won a World Series of Poker bracelet back in 2007 during the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em tournament.
Young also competed in the recent WSOP Main Event and Negreanu commented that he had just played alongside Young during the event. Several poker players posted their thoughts on Young’s passing on Twitter:
Really sad news: Poker Pro Ryan Young passed away today. Kid was a character, played with him in the main event this year. RIP Ryan…
A real loss for the poker world. Ryan Young was interesting, charismatic, a talker, aggressive, and exciting to watch. I liked him.
I’m also incredibly sad about Ryan Young’s passing. He was a treat to play with—such a vibrant, good-natured kid. Too young for that. RIP.
Very saddened to hear of the passing of poker player Ryan young. Always thought of him as a great player, and an even better guy 🙁 #rip
It is very sad when someone so young with so much promise passes away. Young’s passing has made many in the poker world think hard about their lives. Many understand that life is fleeting and that they are happy to be able to do what they love with the time they have on this earth.
