The 2008 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is officially underway with 556 players battling their way through day 1A in the $7,800 buy in poker event. The PokerStars sponsored tournament kicked off at 12pm EST today with the first half of the group playing their first day, or day 1A.
During the first day, as is common in holdem poker tournaments more than half of the field found themselves felted, leaving Ryan Collett as the tournaments heavy stack with 176k in accumulated tournament chips. Today’s group will have Sunday off to rest while the second flight of tournament hopefuls take over the tables beginning day 1B tomorrow.
As many as 1,200 poker players are expected to participate in the tournament, including both satellite winners and direct cash paying entries, thus making the prize pool a totalling $8.5 Million.
JJProdigy was originally expected to make his live tournament debut at PCA, however after having his plans changed by PokerStars management it is rumored that the young player accused of multi-accounting among other online poker antics may opt to make grand entrance into the world of live major poker tournaments at the Aussie Millions events sponsored this year by Full Tilt Poker.
