PokerStars is known as the top online poker room in the industry for many reasons. The site offers the best gaming options, promotions, live and online tournament options; the list could go on and on. PokerStars continues to prove time and time again that they are the most popular option for online poker play. The site is constantly breaking records and they are so good at breaking records that they break their own! The site recently hosted the third edition of their popular tournament series, the PokerStars MicroMillions and managed to out-do themselves again with the number of players competing.
The series took place over an eleven day period and 100 micro-stakes events took place. The last event ended this past weekend and over the series, a total of 1,308,994 players competed. This number is larger than the 1,288,221 entries that PokerStars boasted for the MicroMillions II which took place back in July.
The third edition of the series was able to offer a combined prize pool of $8,276,083 which blasted the $5 million guarantee of total prize money. however, the numbers were not the only record of the series. Two online players were able to win their second title of the series which is the first time this has happened. Alfons777999 and ADP1985 both now hold two title wins.
Even better, was the fact that Marcin Horecki, a Team PokerStars pro, was able to win his second MicroMillions leaderboard competition. Horecki was able to play in 100 events and cash out in 34 of the 100. He won the R PLO 6 Max event and he earned the most points to win the leaderboard challenge. Horecki earned the MM III trophy as well as a $16,000 package to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure!
The series was great success as always, so it will be no surprise if the fourth edition of the PokerStars MicroMillions gets underway in the next few months!
