PokerStars is back in action in the United States with real money gaming, but not in the capacity you might expect. After Amaya Gaming purchased Victiv, a second tier DFS website, PokerStars has moved forward with the launch of StarsDraft, a fantasy sports betting site. This marks the first time PokerStars has been involved with real money gaming in the US since Black Friday.
Across the United States, the majority of states accept daily fantasy sports for real money in a legalized capacity. Players from most areas will be able to take part at the StarsDraft site, except Michigan as well as Canada. Amaya has decided to pull the StarsDraft services from these two areas.
StarsDraft will not take new deposits from any players located in Canada or Michigan. Players will be able to continue to access their member accounts as well as take part in contests. Players have 120 days to remove any remaining balance that may exist in the account. All accounts in these two areas will be fully closed by the 1st of January 2016.
With the launch, PokerStars will be redesigning the StarsDraft website to feature the colors known to the brand, of black and red. The changes will be superficial at most, with the visual experience leaning towards what members of PokerStars are used to.
Contests of the site as well as the lobby navigation will remain the same. Players will have the option to keep their username and password as used when Victiv ran the site. Account balances will not be changed and members will also be able to continue with the same loyalty status.
StarsDraft is home to the Bankroll Builder which is free to enter and offers real-money prizes. Players can use this option as a way of practicing against a computer opponent. The practice sessions helps players to learn the format without being at risk of losing funds.
