Just a few days ago, top online poker operator PokerStars asked players what they would like to see take place for the 2016 World Championship of Online Poker. Players have responded to the tentative schedule and PokerStars has now released the finalized version. Players will find the schedule includes 82 tournament events which is 12 more tournaments when compared to the 2015 version.
The 2016 WCOOP will begin on the 4th of September and continue until the 26th of the month. There will be returning events on the schedule as well as new options as players log on to PokerStars to compete. Players will find such events include a four day marathon tournament option, win the button, three-max pot-limit Omaha and more.
Also included on the schedule is the High Roller event which has a buy-in of $102,000 as well as a High Roller PLO event with a buy-in of $21,000. Once registration begins, PokerStars will be offering two events based on player choice, with votes being taken during the registration process.
The Main Event is set for the 26th and will have a buy-in of $5,000. Players will be competing for a piece of the $10 million guaranteed prize pool, with $1.5 million of the money going towards the winner of the event. According to PokerStars, elements that have been eliminated include bracelets no longer being awarded. PokerStars also chose to do away with the second chance events.
The WCOOP Leaderboard is an additional way to earn rewards while taking part in the WCOOP. The leaderboard will provide $70,000 in prizes for those who do the best during the tournament events. Players will earn points based on positioning once tournaments are complete.
The full schedule of events can be viewed at the PokerStars Blog. The schedule should be added to the PokerStars client by the 17th of the month. Additional information on the Players Choice events can also be found at the PokerStars blog.
