The Spring Championship of Online Poker is always a favorite with PokerStars players as the series offers a nice selection of tournament gaming options. For more than two weeks now, the 2016 SCOOP has offered several tournament options, with this year’s series setting a new world record.
The series offered 56 events, with 168 tournaments in total on the schedule, and managed to create a total prize pool of $91 million. Yes, a staggering $91 million. This new record defeated a previous record, also set by PokerStars, with the Spring Championship of Online Poker from 2014, when $81 million was created in total prize money.
There were three Main Events for the 2016 SCOOP, previous records were broken. With the High Value Main Event, 824 players paid the $10,000 buy-in which created more than $8 million in prize money. This was over 100 entries more than 2015’s High Value Main Event.
The Medium Value Main Event had a buy-in of $1,000 and saw just over 5,000 players competing. The prize pool for this tournament was $4.8 million. The Low Value Main Event had a buy-in of $100 and had an amazing 24,591 players taking part. This number of participants left $2.2 million in prize money. Overall, all three Main Events of the 2016 SCOOP created more than $15 million in prize money, just three events!
