PokerStars WCOOP Set To Offer Massive $50 Million in Guaranteed Prize Money

Poker players look forward to taking part in PokerStars World Championship of Online poker each and every year. For 2016, the WCOOP will be offering up the most money ever, with $50 million in total guaranteed prize money. The Main Event will offer up $10 million with additional big money events placed on the schedule.

The festival will begin on the 4^th of September and run until the 26^th. Players can take part in the WCOOP or enjoy smaller buy-in events with the Mini-WCOOP which will run alongside the standard series. The big event on the schedule is of course the Main Event which will have $10 million in total prize money up for grabs. The Main Event will run from the 25^th to the 27^th, with satellites offered for players to earn a seat to the big event.

Starting on the 4^th, the Marathon Event will have a buy-in of $1,050 and will take place over four days. This will be the first four day event to take place within the PokerStars Championship. For this year, PokerStars has decided to increase the buy-in to the Super High Roller event, with the buy-in now sitting at $102,000 instead of the standard $51,000. This event will be streamed on Twitch where poker fans can catch all the action.

Also taking place during the WCOOP is a leaderboard challenge. This option will see ten players earning a portion of $70,000 in additional prizes. The leaderboard will keep track of player progress and the top ten who remain consistent throughout the series will earn a payday. The top player will be able to claim the title of Player of the Year along with a trophy, Turbo Championship of Online Poker ticket to the Main Event as well as an Ultimate Bahamas Experience with a value of $40,000.

Players who have less to spend will find the Mini-WCOOP offers quality tournament options and buy-ins. The mini version will run on the same dates as the standard WCOOP. The Main Event costs just $50, making this event as well as all the others very affordable.
