Sam Soverel is a skilled high-stakes tournament player who doesn’t shy off from highly competitive games. He recently won $393,516 and his second bracelet in the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online Festival’s $5,300 Buy-In No-Limit Hold’em High Roller tournament after beating 407 entrants.
The player has almost $22.1 million in lifetime poker earnings. The event’s Day was at WSOP.com for New Jersey and Nevada players.

Soverel Dominates on the Last Day
The tournament’s last six players visited the Horseshoe Las Vegas on July 5 and Soverel was the stack leader. Gergely Kulcsar used pocket jacks to make an under-the-gun raise and Ethan Yau used A-10 from the big blind to make a more than six-big blind three-bet shove.
Kulcsar called before ending Yau’s run in sixth place with $80,784. The latter has almost $2.5 million in recorded poker earnings now.
Lingjun Lu used pocket kings to make an all-in move against Kulcsar’s K-10 suited. But, the latter got an open-ended straight draw. Still, Kulcsar got Broadway and won the hand after an ace landed on the turn.
The river bricked and sent Lu home in fifth place as Kulcsar improved his position on the leaderboard to second place after Soverel.
Soverel extended his stack lead after his pocket tens dominated Aleksejs Ponakov’s committing raise. The bigger pair held and busted Ponakovs in fourth place with $150,144.
Yuval Bronshtein, a two-time bracelet champion got in a fierce battle. Kulcsar used pocket sevens to make a small blind open-shove while Bronshtein used K-6 to call his last 11 big blinds. The latter made a set flop and got the stack lead after eliminating the former in third place with $207,264.
Reports state that Bronshtein has over $3.5 million in lifetime poker winnings. Kulcsar had a 5,700,000:4,500,000 chip advantage over Soverel when their heads-up action began. The former used ADiamond SuitKDiamond Suit to make a button raise, and the latter used 3Club Suit2Club Suit to protect his big blind.
Even so, KHeart SuitQDiamond Suit2Spade Suit landed at the flop prompting Soverel to check-call Kulcsar’s small continuation bet. The latter got the top pair, top kicker before 3Heart Suit landed on the turn. It gave Soverel two pair and the crucial chip lead.
3Spade Suit landed on the board as Soverel made a full house check. Yet, Kulcsar made a 1,950,000 wager for the 2,270,000-pot prompting Soverel to make a 3,825,000 all-in move.
Soverel used AHeart Suit8Diamond Suit to call fast before the board ran out JDiamond Suit4Spade Suit3Spade SuitKDiamond Suit2Heart Suit. He folded Kulcsar’s straight and flush draws as his ace-high earned him the pot. Soverel busted Kulcsar as the runner-up with $284,784.
