The World Poker Tour Deepstacks stopped at Casino Barriere de Deauville, and the WPTDeepstacks Main Event saw a total of 474 players that created a prize pool of €500,544 ($567,665). Three days of intensive poker concluded with Saul Berdugo from France winning the event and claiming the first-place prize for €98,000 ($111,141).
Berdugo is a great poker player who doesn’t have a rich history of cashing out. In fact, he had managed to win a total of $1,208 one time when he ended up on 12th place in the 2018 Pasino Poker Series €330 NLH. In other words, there is a great reason for Berdugo to celebrate as he is officially into the six-figure club.

Other poker players who won different events on this festival include Victor Goisset, who topped a 148-strong field and won Event #1: €400 NLH Opener 8-Max for a total of €12,090.
Back to the Main Event, the top 63 players cashed out, and some of them include David Dana, Jan Boubli, Bruno Fitoussi, Michael Betting, Morgan Lecam, and Gilles Huet. All of them made it to the money list but failed to enter the final table.
Speaking of the final table, it consisted of nine players, and the first one to go down was Romain Hamouche. He was followed by Jean Albertini and Mohamed Mamouni, who dropped out on the eighth and the seventh place respectively. The sixth place was reserved for Abdelakim Laidouni, and the player to bust out fifth was Clemente Carreira.
Rabah Abdelmalek ended up fourth, and Joris Mahe in third place. This left us with Abdelhamid El Khayati and Sul Berdugo, who clashed in the exciting heads-up play. The most important hand was the final one where Berdugo managed to win the Main Event. About 1 million was in the pot and the flop showed five, three and eight.
Berdugo decided to check the bet which was previously set by El Khayati at 700,000. Then, he decided to check-raise and went all in, and Khayati decided to call off with a four and a two. He was looking to make a straight but failed to do that as Berdugo made a double on the turn and the river showed up a seven. In other words, Berdugo risked it all but, it paid off in the end.
The biggest victory by this player is certainly going to be a great memory for him. However, he might be up for more similar wins in the future, as his play was impeccable and lady luck was on his side.
This marked the end of another successful WPTDeepStacks and the next one will begin on January 11 in Berlin, Germany. It will also feature a couple of other events that will last until January 14.
