With the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown already going on, we cannot wait for the Main Event set to start at the end of this week. The Showdown tournament started on March 24. It is a three-week series featuring 50 awards and over 8 million in guaranteed prizes.
Starting Friday, the Main Event will commence. Players will participate with a buy-in of $3,500. The World Poker Tour Main Event is scheduled for April 8 to April 12.
Participants stand a chance to win a share of the $3,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. But, the prize might go even higher considering that last year’s Main Event pooled almost four times a $2 million guaranteed prize.
The Main Event will have two starting flights, the first scheduled for April 8 at 11 am Eastern Time. The second will occur on April 9 at 11 am too. Fortunately, late registration will be allowed until the beginning of Level 9 at 9.15 pm.
Players will begin the match with 50,000 chips. They will also have blinds at 100/200/200 and one-hour levels.
Day 2 will begin at 12.00 on April 10. Then, players will proceed to Days 3 and 4 on April 11 and 12th at noon.
The final table will happen on May 25 at Esports Arena Las Vegas. The event will be filmed and aired.
If you wish to follow the final table event, you can watch it on World Poker Tour Facebook, Twitch, and YouTube channels 30 minutes after the event begins. Alternatively, you can watch it on ThetaTV or WatchWPT app.
Previous Winner
The 2021 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown championship saw Americans scope the first three top places. Brek Schutten was the ultimate champion of the 2021 Main Event, carrying home over $1.2 million.
Steven Snyder took second place, winning almost $900,000. Viet Van Vo closed the top three, pocketing over $550,000. Sonny Franc broke the trend by taking fourth place, while Albert Calderon and Ken Aldridge completed the top six final table winners.
The initial guaranteed prize was $2 million but increased to $7,942,400. The tournament recorded over 2400 entries, making it the biggest World Poker Tour Main Event ever. Before the 2021 season, the previous tournament had recorded 1795 entrants.
Brek did not only take home a seven-figure prize. He also won a Hublot Big Bang Steel Watch, $15k to replace the canceled World Poker Tour TOC, and a set of Baccarat Crystal. Brek will also live to see his name engraved on the prestigious World Poker Tour Champions Cup.
Impressive Turnout So Far
So far, this year’s Hard Rock Poker Showdown has attracted a significant number. The best entry was Event #1, which recorded 3,687 entrants. The $400 Deep Stack No-Limit Hold ’em has a prize pool of over $1.2 million, with James Collins winning the event to take home over $130k.
Similarly, Event #7 attracted many entrants. The $200 Big Stack NLH had 1,462 entries, with Vendel Johnson taking the win and over $26k in prize money. This was his second World Poker Tour win.
The top five players included Vendel, Andre Bryan, Kelly Alonso, Ayed Shweihat, and Alexandru Predincea. They received over $106k in prizes out of $233,920.
Other events have attracted between 50 and 350 players, with players winning four and five-figure prizes. We expect huge numbers to register for the Main Event. You can watch highlights and the final table event on World Poker Tour social platforms if you are just a fan.
