Canadian online poker players will lose the country’s most popular ewallet on January 2, 2014. That is when Skrill will cease processing Canadian online gaming transactions. Players will have four weeks to request withdrawals. Merchants began receiving emails about the change on Monday. Players started reporting the news on Tuesday, posting emails sent by Skrill at Two Plus Two.
Canadian players have limited payment processing options due to rules established by banks in the country, many of which are connected to U.S. financial institutions. Neteller, a popular ewallet in Europe, left the Canadian online gaming market in April 2007.
Canadian players still have a few options for online poker deposits. PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker accept Mastercard, Visa, Instadebit, Ukash, PaySafeCard, Entropay and electronic checks. Withdrawal options include Visa, Instadebit and electronic check.

Historically, companies that show interest in the U.S. and other regulated markets have been quick to leave Canada, although no company has been punished for operating in the country.
