At 4pm local time in the state of New Jersey on March the 16th, PokerStars will be entering a soft launch period. The gaming software will be ready to download and the brand will begin a testing phase of sorts before going full steam ahead on the 21st of March.
During the soft launch, as many as 500 players will be given the opportunity to play for real money on the gaming software, provided by PokerStars, only if located within the borders of New Jersey. Game play will have a restriction of 8 hours, from the time frame of 4pm to midnight, on the 16th and 17th. On the 18th, players will be able to enjoy real money gaming from 8am until midnight, a much longer time frame. The 19th and 20th will mark the final two days of the soft launch with game play offered 24 hours each day.
Players who have never had an account with PokerStars will need to create one to get stated. Those who have had an account in the past will be able to use the same screen name or create a completely new gaming account.
An old account converted to the new account will need to use a process being called Quick Account Creation. This will allow players to convert Frequent Player Points into StarCoins, if the FPPs exist in the given account. Converted FPPs will have a special rate of 1.6 StarCoins given per 1 FPP with the conversion, but will change back to 1 to 1 after.
Another unqiue aspect to point out is that PokerStars will be given players who had existing accounts the same VIP status based on where they stood originally with their old account. If a player had GoldStar status before Black Friday, then the player would receive this status if they convert an old account to a new one. The monthly VIP status players will need to meet the minimum requirements to be able to maintain the level of the VIP program after the account is converted.
