It’s that time of year again, the time of year to set your World Series of Poker (WSOP) goals, plan your vacation time and hone your poker skills.
The dates for the 39th annual World Series of Poker 2008 have been announced. This year’s event will again be sponsored by Milwaukee’s Best Light. Harrah’s Entertainment has said that the 2008 WSOP will commence on May 30 and run through July 17th, 2008. The host of the 2008 WSOP will remain the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas once again.
With this early announcement the poker industry will have plenty of time to plan all the promotions and events surrounding this grand event. Jeffrey Pollack, WSOP Commissioner, said, “The team is still hard at work on the schedule of events for next year, but we’ve received so many requests for the dates that we decided to announce them now.”
The WSOP tournament room, which in the past years has been the Amazon room, will open May 26th for two special events. Geno Iafrate of the Rio said, “This ‘soft opening’ will give players a chance to register early and avoid the lines we had last year during opening weekend – our busiest time.”
(Hopefully they will find room for all of the players ‘indoors’ as well this year.)
The schedule of actual events has not been released yet and hopefully these dates and times will be announced soon keep your eyes out, the moment we get word, we’ll post here on 4flush!
