Barely a month since the World Series of Poker launched in Pennsylvania, the brand has awarded the first two WSOP gold bracelets in the state. The first event dubbed the “Keystone kickoff” happened between August 6 and 9.
It was going for a $500 buy-in and attracted 500 entries for the three starting flights. This built a prize pool of $225,000, with the highest prize of $48,420 going to the top player by the screen name ratrivers.
The second event of the series was a progressive knockout. It had a buy-in of $500 for the no-limit hold’em.
A player by the screen name POTtheRIVER won the second gold bracelet and $27,593 prize money. POTtheRIVER scooped $14,746 from bounty earning and $12,846 from the prize pool.
How the First Event Went Down
From 500 entries in the first event, only 148 players made it to Day 2. The top 90 of these players got a share of the prize pool, with the last one earning at least $630. ratrivers reached the final day with the highest number of chips.
The event was narrowed to the last eight players by LavaCake, eliminating Slap Nuts, who had pocket sixes with his A-K. MonkeyBLuffy came out eighth with a win of $4,140. The players A-J failed to compare to AceOnaJetski, whose cards were K4.
Dripbaeless run came to an end when their pocket queens couldn’t compare to SBbarnz’s A-7. They took seventh place and $5,513 prize money.
SBbarnz went ahead to eliminate NawtyShawty with AA, who held AK. The latter player also scooped $7,470. While at it, SBbarnz also moved to the second chip position.
With five players remaining, ratrivers lost several stacks to drop down the leaderboard. But, they regained some of the chips when their AK beat out the AJ of ‘LavaCake.’ LavaCake won $10 305. ratrivers returned to the lead after removing SBbarnz in the fourth position. AceOnaJetski came out third after losing to NovaRiver.
The head-to-head between ratrivers and NovaRiver began with ratrivers having a 2.5:1 chip lead. But, NovaRiver closed the gap before the final hand. After several exchanges, NovaRiver took home $29,993, with ratrivers carrying the highest prize money of $48,420.
How the Second Event Went Down
The second event attracted 327 entries, building a prize pool of $147,150. Only 48 players qualified for the prize pool.
POTtheRIVER was leading in chips by the time the final table of nine was created. Jason Sandjay Rivkin and m1kecr0ss followed closely. Rivkin recently finished runner-up in the WSOP Online series in New Jersey and Nevada.
From the nine players in the final table, bkellssc was the first to leave the table, followed by PineCreek and m1kecr0ss. Snacks22 came in sixth with earnings of $4,468 after failing to beat LooseChangee’s K7 with their A2.
PeachesParty finished fifth. The following hand led to double elimination. PA_iTiltHard’ took fourth place, taking home $9,132, while Rivkin finished third with $9,945.
The head-up was between POTtheRiver and LooseChangee, with POT starting with almost 3.8 million in chips while the latter had 2.7 million in chips. After several exchanges, POTtheRIVER’s K secured the player’s win and the bracelet. LooseChangee earned $14,690 while POTtheRIVER won $27,593.
