World Series of Poker through WSOP.com has finally scheduled to launch their online poker platform in Pennsylvania. The brand is set to welcome the first real money wagers on Monday, July 12, 2021. WSOP.com will offer online poker through 888, a Gibraltar-based company.
Several weeks ago, 888 unveiled its new client Poker 8. WSOP will be using this client to poker WSOP PA internet poker room. Although the client was revealed weeks ago, it will first become accessible to Pennsylvanians on July 12.
The WSOP.com PA is coming in big in Penn. For starters, it will use the modern Poker 8 software instead of the usual mobile apps and 888 desktop it uses in Nevada and New Jersey.
The site will start with a soft launch expected to run for three days. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will use the time to test the site, gaming, and anything they have to ensure flawless operations.
Only those located within the boundaries of Penn will be able to access WSOP.com. This is because the site is yet to offer interstate poker and that there will be a technological ring preventing other states from accessing the poker platform. Ideally, the platform is segregated from Nevada and New Jersey.
But, this will not last long as Penn and Michigan are planning to join the existing Multi-State Gaming Agreement or create a new compact before the year’s end. Once it happens, Nevada, Delaware, New Jersey, Michigan, Penn, or Penn and Michigan will have a common player pool.
We Come With Offers
WSOP.com PA is not coming empty-handed. Instead, they will be offering numerous promotions. Some of the expected offers include a match-up bonus of up to $1000, welcome week freerolls, and $50 free play.
WSOP is currently running a state-exclusive online bracelet series in Nevada and New Jersey. In line with that, people are speculating that the brand might also roll out a similar online bracelet series for Pennsylvania-only residents. But, this is yet to be confirmed.
What is confirmed, however, is that WSOP will run an online circuit series for Pennsylvanians. This will be part of the 2021 WSOP Circuit season.
Three Online Poker Platforms to Choose From
Pennsylvanians are about to have three options when it comes to choosing where to play online poker. Previously, they had PokerStars PA and Borgata Poker PA/BetMGM Poker PA operating under the Partypoker US Network. Now, they have WSOP PA.
What started as a slow online poker market is now one of the biggest. The state began with one poker room in November 2019, PokerStars PA, for 17 months. From July 12, Penn will have four online poker platforms and three-player pools.
PokerStars is still the market leader in Penn. With WSOP.com joining the market, things are about to shake up for PokerStars.
Looking at the current cash game traffic, PokerStars PA has 250 seats while Partypoker US Network, which comprises two poker rooms, has 40 cash game seats. It will take some time before it happens, and WSOP might never overtake the market.
But, considering the brand is the biggest online poker provider in the USA, it will increase competition in Pennsylvania. WSOP.com is the sole poker provider in Nevada and has a huge player pool in NJ.
