Annette “Annette_15†Obrestad did it all at the PokerStars European Poker Tour in Dublin this weekend, well, almost all. She played a great tournament, was chip leader at final table, eliminated four final table players by herself and went heads up with slightly over a seven to one chip lead.
Her aggressive play dominated all in her path, except one. Reuben Peter, the lone American player at the final table played just that much better and bested Obrestad heads up to win €532,620 and also a €10,000 seat to the EPT Grand Final in April 2008.
It looked like from the beginning Annette would fulfill all the predictions from poker experts and best the final table for her second major win, as she went on an unbelievable run of monster hands to take out Casper Hansen, Michael Durrer, Trond Eidsvig and Reijo Manninen.
Reuben Peters though managed to double up once through Annette Obrestad and basically stay clear of all the Norwegian destruction going on at the final table. He entered the final table as one of the shorter stacks but managed to survive and ended up heads up with the young online poker superstar though very much behind.
It seems that all the hands that were turning into monsters earlier were now only ending up second best for “Annette_15†and it didn’t take long for Peters to pull even. Obrestad aggressive play that served her well up to this point was failing her and the final hand saw her pocket pair of sevens get out flopped by Peters AT when a ten hit and neither improved from there.
Obrestad though not winning did pull in €297,800 and with her win at the WSOPE Main Event earlier this year already puts the 19 year old third all time in lived tournament winnings with close to $2.5 million, trailing only Kathy Liebert, with over $4 million and Annie Duke with a little over $3.4 million.
