Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth is quite a controversial player, but he is the single most successful player in WSOP that has ever lived, with a total number of 15 bracelets. He has been playing poker for almost four decades, and his first WSOP bracelet came in 1989 when he managed to win the WSOP $10,000 Main Event and claim a total of $755,000. The fifteenth bracelet came back in 2018 when he won the Event #71: $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em and took home a total of $485,082.
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey is also one of the living legends who managed to win a total of 10 bracelets at WSOP tournaments. Apart from being a poker professional, Ivey has been also been in the center of media attention about his edge sorting affair.
Johnny Chan
Chan also shares the second place with Phil Ivey, as both of them have 10 bracelets each. Chan had a very interesting life since he was born in China and moved with his family to the US when he was a teenager. He made it 27 times to the final table of WSOP events and had a total of 45 money finishes.
Doyle Brunson
Mr. Brunson, aka the Godfather of Poker, needs no introduction, as he is considered one of the best poker players of all time. He also shares the second place with the previous to players, as he has also won a total of 10 bracelets in WSOP tournaments. He made it to the final table 26 times and cashed out 37 times. Brunson is 85 right now and still occasionally plays poker. He also holds one World Poker Tour title.
Others on the List
The fifth place is currently occupied by Johnny Moss, who has a total of nine bracelets and is followed by Erik Seidel who, at the moment, sits at eight. Men Nguyen and Billy Baxter have seven bracelets each, while the ninth place is shared by Layne Flack, Ted Forrest, Jeff Lisandro, TJ Cloutier, Chris Ferguson, Daniel Negreanu, and Jay Heimowitz – al of them have won a bracelet six times each.
We are up for a great half-century anniversary where anything could happen. Although it is highly unlikely that someone would top Phil Hellmuth, there might be some changes on the leaderboard.
