Update #2: Win Cake did not follow through on the request for comment.
In December 2013, we reported on the cashout issues at Win Cake. Six months later, little has changed. In fact, it can be argued that the situation is actually worse.
At the time of our last Win Cake column, some players were reporting pending cashout requests that were approaching six months in age, dating back to May or June 2013. Six months later, some players are reporting withdrawal requests that also date back to that same period, according to numerous posters in a thread at the Two Plus Two forum. There are posters in other forums with the same story.
The maximum withdrawal amount at Win Cake is $10,000. Some players have reported waiting months on withdrawals that large, only to receive $1,000 or $1,500. The remainder of the withdrawal request in these situations is reversed and placed back into player accounts.
Some players have decided to sell Win Cake chips at a steep discount. The last reported trade was at $.19 on the dollar.
Win Cake is a site that only accepts players outside the United States. It is a member of the Revolution Gaming Network. While Win Cake does not accept U.S. players, there are several skins on the network that do.
Revolution Gaming was the previous home of Lock Poker. There were complaints from some operators that Lock Poker was the cause of slow payments on other skins due to reconciliation issues. This is where skins settle up with the network and pay any funds that its players lost to the network pool.
Zet Poker and ComeOn Poker temporarily closed skins on the network, blaming payment delays from the network. Adameve Poker also closed its Revolution Gaming skin, citing network payment issues. Its skin never reopened.
Win Cake was formerly known as Cake Poker. In September 2012, Cake Poker moved its U.S. players to a skin known as Juicy Stakes. There were slow-pay complaints in the months following the move. In October 2013, Zagox Management acquired Juicy Stakes and the skin’s slow payment situation was resolved. In a rare situation in the online poker industry, U.S. players were bailed out, while rest-of-world players are still experiencing slow payments.
One problem that likely affects Win Cake is that it is on a U.S.-friendly network but does not accept Americans. This is sometimes a cause for concern for players outside the U.S. market. There is also little in the way of Win Cake advertising on the Internet. The top two affiliate sites under a Google search for “Win Cake” and “Win Cake Poker” recommend avoiding it. The lack of advertising and the negative reviews are not conducive for generating player deposits that might help the site’s liquidity.
Traffic on Revolution has also deteriorated. It was once the largest to accept U.S. players. It is now sixth and ranks lower than the largest regulated New Jersey site, according to PokerScout.
There are still strong skins on Revolution Gaming. Unfortunately for players, it does not appear that Win Cake is one of them.
We reached out to Win Cake for comment about its cashout speeds. Support forwarded our request to the marketing department. We did not receive any other responses.
