Day 3 has come and gone along with 108 poker players who’s dream of a WPT championship in this years WPT 5 Diamond Doyle Brunson World Poker Classic have been dashed. The big news from today is that what most believed was his tournament to lose, Phil Ivey did just that and is out in Day 3 after leading days 1 and 2. Ivey finished out of the money.
Besides Phil Ivey, Day 3 saw the elimination of Hevad Khan, internet player John “Pearljammer” Turner, Evelyn Ng and when Day 1 A chip leader John Hennigan and another player was eliminated at the same time , the bubble for the money was burst.
With the pay schedule being flat (100 to 51 getting $28,905), the gambling at the bubble was fast and furious. The next level would be 50 to 40 getting $38,545.
Nenad Medic and Lee Markholt , who managed to stay high up on the leader board in day 1 and 2 have been eliminated but are in the lower tiered money. Same can be said for Jonathan Little, Theo Tran, Bernard Lee, Richard Lee and Erik Seidel.
With the next payout jump looming, Erick Lindgren sent Humberto Brenes to the rail in 51st place.
Play concluded with 44 players left to compete in Day 4.
