664 poker players’ came to the Bellagio in hopes of a WPT 5 Diamond Doyle Brunson World Poker Classic title. 620 are no longer at the table but for 44 players the dream is still alive but only one can be crowned the winner so here we go, Day 4.
In the beginning it was decided to play five levels, or until only 18 players remained. It was the later that came first as about midway through the 4th level, Daniel Donati was put out of the tournament in 19th place and the field for Day 5 was set.
With only 44 players remaining and the next pay jump was just around the corner with 40th down to 31st getting $48,180. It was none other than Marcel Luske breaking that pay jump bubble going out in 41st place.
Another big name having a great run would not make it out of Day 4 at that would be the 2003 WPT World Poker Finals Champion, Hoyt Corkins leaving this event in 36th place.
David Baker left in 31st breaking the next pay barrier now 30th down to 21st will receive a payout of $57,815. Two more big names came close but will also be leaving Day 4 at that is WSOP bracelet holder Huck Seed in 24th and Gus Hansen saw a great run fizzle out in 21st.
For the next ten, the cash winnings jump to $77,085.
Not all was bad for the big names left in the tournament. Daniel Negreanu had a great day and rocketed to the top of the leader board. David “Devilfish†Ulliott and Erick Lindgren are in the top five and Todd Brunson is just outside the top ten in 11th overall.
