WSOP US Network Continues to Grow, Thanks to WSOP Live Event Success
The World Series of Poker live event ended a few weeks ago, with Daniel Weinman being crowned the 2023 WSOP Main Event Champion. The event draws more traffic to its WSOP real-money online platform. This traffic usually fades once the WSOP Live event is over, but not this time.
WSOP US Network is continually growing. The network spans Nevada and New Jersey, creating a player pool between the states. According to data from GameIntel, the network is recording an average of 472 simultaneous cash seats daily.
It is not clear how many players come from individual states. However, over half of these must be from Nevada. This is because the WSOP NV platform witnessed huge growth during the WSOP live events.
During the WSOP live event last year, the WSOP US network recorded an average of 300 cash seats daily. This number hit 305 immediately after the live event. The cash game traffic has increased by 60 percent this year compared to last year’s figures.
This year’s WSOP live event kicked off during the last week of May. The cash game seats were around 200, which increased to 400 during the first week of July. The 4th of July and the beginning of the WSOP Main Event may have contributed to the massive traffic growth.
On July 14, the numbers hit an all-time high of 506 cash seats. This trend was expected to drop once the live event was completed. But, WSOP seems to have retained most of the customers it earned during the live series.
WSOP has recorded more than 500 players in a single day before. This was in 2020, following the closure of the poker rooms due to the Coronavirus. Even then, the network recorded 501 players for one day.
Several things have contributed to this success. For instance, WSOP actively promoted its online poker room alongside the live event series.
Successful Online Bracelet Events
Apart from WSOP live event series, an online bracelet event also greatly increased player traffic at the WSOP US network. The event was one of the most successful, after generating over a $1 million prize pool for every tournament. There were 20 bracelets and over $20 million to be won by New Jersey and Nevada players.
Notably, the WSOP live series is hosted in Nevada. However, the online network comprises Nevada, New Jersey, and three racinos in Delaware.
WSOP Takes the First Spot in NJ
WSOP has taken back its spot after generating more revenue than PokerStars in New Jersey. The poker room had dropped to second place since PokerStars launched its liquidity network in January 2023. PokerStars has a shared liquidity network comprising NJ and Michigan.
PokerStars NJ generated $846,000 in revenue in June. Meanwhile, BetMGM generated $783,000, taking the third position even though this was a 23 percent growth from the previous year.
WSOP took the first position after generating $919,000 in revenue. This was a 41 percent growth from May and a 4 percent decrease from the previous year.
