New laws are now in effect in New Jersey that limit the amount of smoking on casino gambling floors. Some patrons will be visiting the casinos more regularly due to the nonsmoking conditions while others are outraged.
Due to the new law, casinos are investing large sums of money to the design and construction of smoking rooms for their customers who smoke. Seven million dollars is the price tag for Harrah’s Entertainment Inc., one owner of four casinos in Atlantic City.
Trump Entertainment Resorts is on the same path as Harrah’s with plans for their three New Jersey casinos. The hope is that the smoking lounges will provide smoking customers with a nice place to have a cigarette and allow nonsmoking customers a smoke free environment.
Certain resorts, such as the Resorts Atlantic City and the Atlantic City Hilton Casino, have decided to place card tables and slot machines in their smoking lounges. This will certainly make smokers feel more at ease with taking a smoke break. With the government placing bans all over the country, many casinos are being forced to change to nonsmoking.
They are also having to spend millions of dollars to keep their smoking customers happy and still abide by the ban. Though there are mixed feelings on the subject of smoking, people will continue to pack the casinos and gamble the night away whether they can light up or not.
