Ziv Bachar! Expect to hear that name often as yesterday; he won the PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Seoul, Korea. With the exuberance of youth, he outlasted 185 players to win. These players which included former World Series of Poker (WSOP) Champion Joe Hachem, came from 33 countries to play in this event.
Attributing online poker playing to his success, Bachar said of his last hand in the play, “Just play your guts out. But on that particular moment I just got lucky. But throughout the game, my strategy to be tight was so effective. I think online games really help young players like me to develop their skills and patience.” Bachar took his APPT title after intensely battling out with opponent Jozef Berec with his winning hand being a two pair, Kings and Queens.
The final standings were:
1. Ziv Bachar $139,872
2. Jozef Berec $87,420
3. Sid Shinhan Kim $48,081
4. Michel St. Pierre $34,968
5. James Honeybone $28,412
6. Seval Haegeland $21,855
7. Roger Spets $17,484
8. Dan Schrieber $13,113
9. Paul Adams $ 8,740
APPT president had the honors in awarding Bachar with the trophy and the prize money. In addition, he received a prize package for the APPT Grand Final at the Star City Hotel Sydney, Australia, December 13 through December 16, 2007. Bachar’s “day job” is in real estate and wants to use his prize money to start a business of his own.
