America’s Team versus the team most of America roots against. The Pats and Cowboys will duke it out on Sunday in a very intriguing battle. Perhaps the biggest 4-1 surprise in the NFL so far, Dallas has been looking very good and hopes to win a road game on the East Coast. It has been a joy to see them sling it all over so far.
Dak Prescott is back and still playing at a high level. As much as the Cowboys struggled last year, they did still have an elite offense before having to resort to backup QB’s. They have talent all over the place and also two running backs who can move well through the holes created by the O-line. As long as their defense is at least decent every week, the wins will continue.
As for the Pats, they now sit at 2-3, a bit of an odd start. They have not been bad, but all the money spent on new receivers and tight ends has not had the desired impact. The offense is still learning with Mac Jones at the helm, though the process has been a bit slow. Still, though, he is throwing it better than Cam could a year ago.
A Pats win gets them back to .500, while a Dallas win puts them at 5-1 and gives them serious breathing room in their division.
Betting Odds & Lines
Sunday’s spread is set at DAL -3.5. The over/under is 50.5 points. The DAL moneyline is -185, while the NE moneyline is +155.
Cowboys Seeking Fifth Win
It has been an amazing start to the season for the Cowboys. Mike McCarthy was never on the hot seat in just year two. But, to see all of the winning happening like this, it has to have him breathing a little easier. The team is doing well under his watch, and it’s good for “America,” too.
Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard have been a solid 1-2 punch, picking up the yards as the team needs them. The receivers are catching Dak’s passes and running wild all over the field.
If the Cowboys were to lose on Sunday, it would be because they failed to stop the Pats’ tight ends in the red zone.
Pats Seeking Return to .500
There has been some real inconsistency with New England this year. 2-3 is not the start they wanted, and yet, they are #2 in the AFC East. Overtaking Buffalo is next to impossible, but being ahead of Miami and the Jets should have them feeling pretty good.
As for how the team is looking, in all, there is real work to be done. They need to move the ball more consistently. The turnovers have to be limited. And the run game cannot be so lackadaisical, whether or not James White is healthy.
If Damien Harris winds up missing the game, look for Rhamondre Stevenson to finally have a breakout performance.
Dallas Takes the W
As expected, the Cowboys will knock off the Pats. No crazy surprise here.
