This has been a season to forget for the White Sox. Their pitching hasn’t been too impressive, and they have been losing game after game.
The Rangers are ahead of the White Sox pace, but they have been struggling to win and compete in their division. They do find themselves listed as favorites tonight, though.

Chicago White Sox
Carlos Rodon will head to the mound for his fifth start of the season, It’s good to see him back healthy, having seen him return on June 9th. He was decent his last time out, allowing two runs on seven hits over eight innings of work against the A’s. He is 1-2 with a 3.70 ERA, 19 strikeouts, and 10 walks in 24 1/3 innings of work thus far.
A -97-run differential will not win many games for a team. Thus is the center of the White Sox problem. They haven’t had any consistent starting pitching this year, another one in which James Shields has changed uniforms and struggled. Trayce Thompson has struggled to hit and has cost them a lot of offense. Yoan Moncada is hitting .225, Nicky Delmonico, off a great rookie year, is hitting .224, and Matt Davidson is batting just .219. Life as a White Sox fan has got to be difficult.
Texas Rangers (37-46)
The Rangers will send 45-year-old Bartolo Colon to the mound for his seventeenth start of the season. He’s bounced back nicely in his last few starts after going through a struggle period. He has allowed three and two runs respectively in his past two starts, over six and seven innings respectively. Colon has gone 4-5 this year, with a 4.72 ERA. He has had tremendous control, striking out 54 batters, and walking 13 over 87 2/3 innings.
The Rangers have seen good news with Adrian Beltre back on the field, healthy again, and leading the offense. The bad news is their starting pitching has been horrendous, and they have a -50-run differential this year. Nomar Mazara and Shin-Soo Choo have been leading the Texas offense for much of this season. On the bright side for them, Jurickson Profar, after what seems like five or six years in a row of injury filled seasons, has been able to stay healthy and be an everyday player. The results have been decent for him.
Rangers pick up win #38, down the White Sox
It will certainly be a struggle for Chicago, the Rangers will earn their 38th win of the season. The Rangers, as the favorites, should be able to win this game with relative ease.
The offense will be dominant in this game, led by the power of Nomar Mazara, who will launch a pair of home runs to help power them to victory. Seven innings and only one run allowed from Bartolo Colon will help them to victory.
