The starting pitching was strong in the Tuesday win, as Michael Wacha picked up the win. He is now 9-2 on the season. He has been out since July 1 with a shoulder injury. The win snapped the three-game losing streak for San Diego. The offense got a big lift when Gary Sanchez hit a grand slam off Jack Flaherty in the first inning.
Then, on Wednesday, the Padres got three runs in the third inning off the Orioles, with Jake Cronenworth, Xander Bogaerts, and Fernando Tatis Jr all with singles to drive in runners.
